as the title says, my heater fan only works on 3 and 4 speeds. i have changed the risistor under the plenuim chamber i just cant be stuffed pulling the switch out and testing it all.
has any one come accross this or has any one found a way to fix it

im thinking its the switch its self.

If the resistor isn't at fault, then I can't think of anything that could fail yet leave two fan speeds other than the switch itself, I think you're right. Might have to pull it apart and hit it with the multimeter.

if you can't be assed pulling the switch out, you could try spraying some of that contact point cleaner stuff in there, then wait a while for it to clear out, then give it a shot.

i don't think you have to wipe the contacts down after using it, but read the directions to be sure

Prob dead switch. Has died on me too. The wreckers said it was a common fault. $10.00 for a replacement and all was good.

Yeah mine only works on 4... I bought a VS resistor from Holdens, the newer style, but didnt fix it. Better than the shit VN one anyway so it wasnt a TOTAL waste.

Are you sure that the resistor you put in wasnt faulty as well? Ive been through 2 resistors untill i found one that worked. I currently have a Camira resistor installed. Works fine on all speeds.

yeah i know its not the resistor because i bridged the treminals on it to make sure and i did a resistance test on the new fan resistor.

Replace fan switch. Common problem, contact strip burns out. Not a big job.

had the same prob with my (non climate control) vp exec - the resistor assy (which is under a black plastic dome which is under the panel in the engine bay where the windscreen wiper shafts protrude thru) was burnt out - newey ex holden about $40. not sure if climate control has the same set up.
