OK, Did Series I VN V6 Autos come with a seperate trans cooler? and
What RPM should my car sit on at 100km/h?
I have searched but found nothing.
Reasons: My Series I VN Lexcen has a seperate trans cooler, a radiator with a cap and no inbuilt cooler and since fixing my CAS and coil my tacho works but shows 2100rpm at 100km/h.
I believed it should be around 1800rpm at 100.
I also have a Hayman Reece style hitch so was thinking there may have been a towing pack available but that doesn't explain the revs.

Nah they didnt come with a seperate trans cooler. And at some point you've had your radiator replaced, with a series 2 one obviously. Which is the sensible option imo.
2100rpm is a bit high or think if its in Blue D. Is that the D you have it in at 100?
In fourth, 2100, that is if the tacho is correct.
Did the Series II radiator have the inbuilt trans cooler?
My car also gets off the mark exceptionally well compared to other VN/VPs I have come across, through family, recently.

I might check the accuracy of the tacho and then attempt to check the diff gears. It might explain why it goes as good as or better than when new despite having the weight of a gas system in it.
I've had the car for a little more than a year.

If stock 3.08 gears sit on 1900rpm at 100km/h then...3.45's would be sitting on 2125rpm at 100km/h
So maybe you have VL diff gears in your VN?
Makes sense, I'll check it out on Wednesday. My wife is using it tomorrow.

What about the 5spd box?? mine sits on about 2000rpm@100km/h. Does this sound right?
yeah mine is series 2 but at 100 in overdive it is exactly the same revs and yes i have a 3'45 ratio centre

yeah feel dick tho
I think you will find that all Lexcens had the transcooler and the Commodores did not, If you still have the 14 inch wheels on it and they are a bit worn or you have a slightly smaller profile than stock you will see 2100 and yeah the little wheels have the same effect as 3.45 gears over the 1/4, My Lexcen also came with the 2 ton rated Hayman reece bar (it's massssssive)
it does sound like you got the 3.45:1 ratio diff gears and the seperate trans cooler is agood thing as the standard transcooler in the radiator is very marginal at best anyways. someone's done the work for you already.

Checked it all out. 1900rpm @ 100km/h now so I guess it has the standard diff.
