    Default Sticky throttle? TPS?

ok, so the other day i thought i'd clean out the throttle body of my VN S1. It was dirty as ### and i was actually surprised with the improvement i got. Problem is, now it idles way too high, the revs jump when i clutch for gear changes and the bloody thing half drives itself when in gear (ie holds constant speed of 65km/hr in 4th on flat road).

By manually adjusting the throttle with the car running i can see that basically when the throttle is opened, it doesnt completely completely close by itself, and gets stuck a few mm off. If i manually close it that little bit further the idle is fine. Thing is though, when the car is not running it closes completely with no worries at all. Any idea why that would be / how to fix it? Its not something to do with the TPS is it? I held the TB upside down when cleaning it to stop any crap or carby/tb cleaner getting in it. Also, have reset ecu a couple of times since. Cheers.

no, the throttle cable is the same as before. There is still a little bit of 'play' in the cable with the throttle closed.

yeah i had the same prob when i replaced my throttle body. No matter what it doesnt matter how many times u try to replace the throttle body it will do the same. U will just have to adjust the cable. When cleaned, replaced doesnt matter it will still have to be adjusted. Sometimes the spring could be to tight so u mite have to loosen the bolt but its really trial and error.
    Good luck!!!

sounds like its not all clean, did you clean the IAC valve while you had it out, but i would just keep playing with it and spray a bit of wd40 or crc on the spring, maybe loosen the nut on top a tiny bit,

i had the same problem on my vn/v6 manual and found that the cruise control cable was holding the throttle cable from comming back all the way. i just pulled the CC off. might not be the solution to your problem but if u got cc have a look and see if thats the issue, if not WD40 on the spring...

    good luck
