Hi guys, I was looking at a car a few days ago, had like a little bottle of oil with tubes leading into the rocker covers, bloke said it was worth about a grand. I'm assuming its some kind of upper cyl lubricant system, anyone shed any light on that? Do they provide much benefit, or is a bit like snake oil?
Cheers.

sounds pretty much like an oil catch can setup. Instead of having the crankcase venting back into the intake like your supposed to (well, the epa says so anyway) it vents into the catch can, the oil collects at the bottom and the air vents out the top. not really an upper cyl lube thingo as you put it.
could be a catch can, but if the oil bottle was clear, and it cost a grand, its likely to be a lubrication device. A lot of the older blokes swear by them, particularly on older models running on new fuels.
VN 5.0 litre Berlina was the car, and yes the bottle was clear. Interesting setup, didnt look very professional to be honest. I'll try and find some more info.. maybe google will help![]()
