    Default ss induction kit

hi there all, ive got 1 for you all to keep and eye out for? i recently fitted an ss induction cold air intake this is the link where i bought it from,
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/VN-VS-COMMODO...ayphotohosting but i got a problem as you might have guessed, the effn thing fits ok but when i try to close the bonnet the bonnet wont close because it seems the induction is touching the bonnet?? so i was wondering if anyone in here has fitted one of these to there cars and had any success??? the car im fitting it too is a vq statesman btw, so thanks all for having a look and if any one can give me a hand on this one i would really appriciate it

dunno about this one in particular, but the going method for everyone on the forum is to use a heat gun (i got one from kmart for like $40) to get it real hot, then slam the bonnet down on it, and keep it closed for a bit, should make it take the shape of the bonnet.

whether this works depends on how much it's in the way though.

also aren't SS induction scoops top dollars? weird that it doesn't fit, i'd try everything else before melting it.

What that dude said. Looking at the piccies, it definitely looks like the mouth is too tall to fit under the bonnet, My VS CAI looks like it needed modifying to get it to fit and it's got a shorter (vertically) mouth than that.
Beau Duke: Man, I'm never gonna get outta this car again. I'm gonna live in it, I'm gonna eat in it and I'm gonna make sweet love to it!
Luke Duke: You mean you're gonna make sweet love IN it.

    Default tight fit

thanks for the tips boys but with abit of effn around i got it too fit its tight but it does fit with out squashing the intake, and now that it fits wooo hoooo!!! the car really has responded its the best money ive spent oh p.s the way i got it too fit was where the air box intake tube meets the the actuall scoop mouth intake tube i needed to really squash in to each other and that brought the hump down enough on that side to let the bonnet close. it looks nice to ill take some pics and show you guys if you would like???

    yeah, pics are always good,
i forget on the vq, but vp's have a bit of rubber on under the bonnet, (not the one that runs the length of the bonnet) have a look, and if it's there remove it for a bit better air inlet.

the easiest way to fix these problems is u cut the top part of the corner out and then u dont have to heat or bash ure bonnet in any way cos if u look under ure bonnet u'll see there are 2 supports right in those spots which are what is in the way

You could've just got a standard holden or a HSV one, and the bonnet wouldn't have had troubles

    Default nahhh

like i said bonnet is closing good now i just fitted it wrong, and i dont think that is correct about the the standard hsv one either this one has a huge mouth and the flow is excellent if you fit 1 you would know what i mean it gets air forced directly down its throat? plus it looks siiikkkk!!!

I think the HSV one is a better setup. The forcing of the air wont be any different tho, as they use the same size piping.

I went the HSV one as it suits what i've done with the rest of the car (only used holden or HSV things, not aftermarket ugly looking things)

well in my opinion and thats all that matters cause its my car , i think my intake is much nicer and works excellent, i actually think yours is abit ugly no offence?? if works well thats all that matters i guess and as long as your happy with it then best of luck too you.. ans p.s they dont call this intake big mouth for nuthing as it has a larger hole in the air box and very large opening in the front alot larger than yours i might add

Just out of interest, have you got figures of how much better your car performs after the installation of the SS inductions kit> eg fuel economy?

Based on the Calais trip metre (should be the same in your Stato) my fuel economy went up just over .5L per 100km and more in summer (i went from 9.5L/100km to 8.9L/100km) I know abousounds low, its about .7L out, i usually get about 650km out of 63L whereas i used to get about 600km

For $90 (too lazy to cut a hole in the airbox) i was pretty happy with the VS S/C. I've noticed that the car revs out a bit easier after 3,800rpm

But yeah how good is the SS inductions one? Any stats?

    Default no stats

sorry no stats as i dont really care about how much fuel she guzzles, but i can tell you i can really feel the difference performance wise i thought it was somthn that looked good didnt realize it actually makes the car more responsive and faster but i dare say she would be more fuel efficient now.

if you put in a K&N Panel Filter in there aswell that is if you havent already... would make it a whole lot better...
