howdy all, just got back from exhaust shop with the new lukey system installed, and i'm pretty damn happy with it. even threw in a nice shiny oval tip for free.
Then i went and checked the diagnostic fault codes and came up with CODE 42: Electronic Spark Timing Circuit (EST).
What is the main component that causes this?
The coil pack, leads, plugs, and dfi are bout six months old from brand new as well if that helps.
Just need some info where to start looking.
Cheers
was the engine light on before you ran the test??? it could be an old code
If the light was on before, then it is probaly the computer, VN's are very common for throwing that code and being a computer, it happened to me.
I replaced my computer early this year, and i have still got it if you are interested in buying it, it's just sitting in the garage gathering dust now, since i started my conversion, it's an auto computer. Not too sure if it was reco or new though. i'll sell it to you if you want.
Soon to be back on the road, Turbo VG.
yeah its abit of a weird one.
the engine light hasn't come on at all since the CAS went earlier this year.
when i checked the codes 42 registered 3 times and then it started the cycle again.
think i'll take it out and hold it on 3000rpm for 10 secs and reset the computer and give it a week and see if it does it again.
Cheers for the input fellas
whats wrong with taking the battery terminal off???
Nothing wrong with that option, just takes ages to change all the settings on my stereo again
lol...fair enough, did the codes clear??
