damn, that sucks mate...what were you doing when that happened? its not easy to break that gear.
its not as good as my effort though, i broke a YT rocker arm! and they are tuff bastards, not the easiest of things to break on an engine.

hahaha, actually i pulled up next to a 70 year old man in a BA ford, on a cruize, he took off spinning the wheels!!!!!! and skidded up the street,

i just rolled off as i was on a cruize and i didnt need to prove anything....
next set of lights engine felt funny like id lost a cyclinder, turned it off... old man skidded it up the road AGAIN!!!

car felt really weak all night, maybe it came loose and rattled round then snapped the bolt??? cuz it wasnt that hard to get the end of the bolt outta the heads... either way they're all in with lock tight now...

still funny!!! old mans spinnin them up

lol, go the ol' boy....its funny how some people react when they pull up at lights next to a nice car. like when some mum with all her kids in the back pulls up in her 4x4 town run-about and gives it heaps off the line in some sort of improptu drag...

but anyway, sounds like your theory would be about right with the rocker bolt working its way loose untill it finally gave. ending up with a 5 cylinder commy, lol, they actually sound really tough only running on 5 too!

My dad (being funny) used to use a tension wrench that didnt work properly and used to give a load click him self when he reckoned he had it tight enough. I was just a kid at the time but gees I used to lol when he did it.

We do that at work with the rattle gun. Rattle the **** out of something thats gotta be real tight, yell out "Click" loud as you can, then onto the next bolt. Seems to work alright.
