what is the best max air fuel ratio i can lean my vp v6 out too ? obviously at full thottle only
20:1
not sure mate, why not do some testing, see when it pings, u got aldl running yet?
I disagree with Troy, 22:1 sounds like a much better ratio.. very safe, not sure how much higher you could go though
guys you can go higher. 25:1, maybe even 30 if you wanna risk it

I run 11:1... Try that and see what you think Ragex. You wont be disappointed man, makes it zooooooooooom![]()
huh are we talking about the same thing here air fuel ratio ?
like 14.7 and going lower than that which is leaning it out for more power
As I said man, 11:1 is your friendYou could go lower but 11:1 runs well on my car.
14.7:1 is leaner than 11:1... ie more air per 1 part of fuel

^^^^^ lol. that ratio is a waste of fuel![]()

I suggest ya go read wat the BlueChip section has to say.... interesting stuff

hmm from memory our vr is 20:1 could even be 22:1, haven't changed anything with the vt yet, but thats a real motor with the 2 cylinders u are missing so you wouldn't be interested in that anyway.
ok ill go out on a limb here & say some of you guys might be pulling his leg
noooooooooooooooooo, us nice friendly people wouldnt do a thing like that.
come on, i linked him to a wiki page. i told him to do some data logging, but i spose wen ur using a vr tune in a vn ecu, u cant do that can u, so hes gonn have to tune it by ear, set it to a nice even 20 and wait til it pings it tits off, then back it off a bit.
Yeah... I reckon you are right Doc... fnlow... Waste of fuel lol
11:1 is clearly the sensible answer in this thread.
okay ill be more specific rofl.
in the fuel map what should i be setting around cuz lol tis getting confusing lol..
in my map it shows 14.7 down low revs and load and high revs and high load its
roughly 12.90 13.00..... now that in a away looks like its getting richer... why would it be richer ? i thought leaning it out delivers a bit more power. my guess is somehow the chip works backwards:P
can anyone help me understand this?
ok before you post its probly obvious that the car needs more fuel and full throttle
how do u work out fuel mixture...dyno?....im new to injected motors
at full throttle your only goal is to make more power, hence going a little richer (11:1) should help. when cruizing and your aiming for best economy you wanna lean it out some (say 17:1). if your going to be changing things i'd suggest small steps. going a little to rich at full throttle is only going to increase your fuel bill and maybe a little power loss. going to lean is going to ping it to death very quickly andcost you a lot more in a rebuild.

14.7:1 is the Leanest you can go with any load on the motor.(eg: No Throttle). Never in my Life have i seen a Motor run leaner than that and live to show it on a Ratio Meter.
11:1 - 11.5:1 is Perfect for Boosted motors. If it has higher compression around 10:1 - 10.5:1 is better for safty reasons. if the car is not boosted then 12.7:1 - 13.5:1 is very safe.
You can tune boosted cars leaner but with aftermarket computers the temp comp is not as good as a stock computer. So if its tuned on a hot night that 11:1 could turn into a 12:1 on a cold night or morning.
