from memory they just unbolt and the new one will bolt into place, but you have to unplug the sensors.

it's a trans out and held upside down job i'd say.

you need to be real careful with positioning of check balls and stuff that will easily fall out, leaving you wondering where they went and how important they were....

my question to you would be: how do you know the problem is in the valve body? it could be seals or clutch packs.

i started rebuilding my trans about a year ago. it's like rebuilding a small city i've got parts everwhere, never finished it.

Apparently theres no need to take the trans out.

Nothing wrong with mine, but its an exchange thing. I exchange mine for a reco unit with a brand new stage 2 transgo shift kit, corvette servo and 0.500" boost valve... Its a decent price so I figure why not

yep real easy to do. Rip the pan off, undo bolts that hold valve body in. pull out replace. There shouldnt be any check balls and what not fall out as they are sealed inside the valve body.

I would say when you buy the valve body it should have most instructions on how to do the job.

Which should look like this " Valve Body Removal"
