    Default idle

hi,put a post up a while ago about rough idle and low revs at idle (when its warmed up) on my vn/v6. I have just completed a trip of around 4000km with no dramas whatsoever, 4 adult passengers, boot full of gear, and travelling at 100/120 kmh i still managed an incredible 30 mpg in 30c heat. The car used no oil and little water, but,it still idles like a piece of s**t, rattling the exhaust and sounds like its missing!!,i checked the leads and changed the plugs (the were good) before i left, has anybody got any ideas how to fix this preblem ?, before i have to take it to ultratune!!!., thanks........

thanks for replies , im going to get underneath tomorrow and check out the pipes/hangers, when i increase revs in d by throttle it stops ,or if i change from d to neutral, it goes away aswell, i just dont think its idling high enough, sometimes nearly stalls at the lights when warm., thanks.........

i have noticed i am getting this also, and only when in D (blue D) but wen i shift to netural, it geos away, i am suspecting someting to do with liquid being sucked up from the header tank, as i recently replaced mine, and every couple of weeks, i top it up, as its not basically running correctly!

run an error code test, other then that clean out the throttle body, take the engine fuse outfor 20 secs then back in, see if its all good

drove around today in warm weather, the car (as usual)started straight up and ran o,k, according to the rev counter, did not seem to be missing,as the car warmed up driving around the idle got progresivley worse . I dont know if the missing caused the revs to drop or the drop in revs caused the rough idle, once she,s up and going all seems fine untill one pulls up ,at first the idle is not to bad, then, after a second or two it runs rough again. the car doesnt overheat (temp gauge stays between 2/3 digits on gauge),then when hot usually needs a bit of cranking to fire up, but not always!!!, then when cold it runs and starts o, k, again, anybody got any ideas without having to replace everything because it could be this or that ?, thanks...............

Have you replaced the Oxy sensor?

Also check the injector loom as this can make an injector stop.

If its happening when getting warm it indicates a connection type problem of some sort.

Good idear to take it to a spanner man as you can chase it for months and spend several hundred in the process.

But it could be the CAS if only doing it when hot.

Hey I'd even pee on it to get out of trouble....

Plenty of people have suggested water on it and no complaints from anyone so far. Spray away..

I had the same prblem. The first thing i replcaed was the throttle body and it went like a baby. But myne you should let it run for a while and give it a lot of go. i did this before it started working properly. It happened to me. But now fine

Had a similiar problem, but since replacing the oxy sensor, coolant temp sensor and MAT sensor, the old girl is running sweeter than ever
