My beautiful Calais (named Camilla by the way) has been smelling of petrol after sitting turned off for a couple hours. Eg. parked the car last night, then this morning she smells of petrol.
this morning i checked underneath and no fuel was on the ground, and i also opened the bonnet and played with the throttle, but no fuel came out of the lines (so no leaks i could see)
Any idea what could be wrong with Camilla? The smell goes away after a few minutes, but it still shouldn't be there...
did you just fill her up?
or is it over 3/4 full? if so, you may be experiancing perished fuel line syndrome, where when it's near full, vapour's escape.
did you look at the tank as well as the ground?
check the thread about a vn with this prob half way down the page, theres info and a link in there that might help you.
Also the charcoal cannister may need cleaning.
as said above, perished fuel lines, checkaround the fuel tank. if still nothing remove the cover inside the rear wheel well, it covers the fuel tank filler and lots of little fuel lines that perish over time.
