hey guys heres a funny one for you all, wait for it , how do you get an accurate reading on your transmission fluid ,do you check it when the motor is cold or hot or when it is running??? and also how do you top up on coolant do you need to flush ur radiator or can you just top up??

whats funny about it? am i missing something here?
anyway....check trans fluid with car at operating temp with selector in "P".
topping up coolant is ok as long as the appropriate coolant and water mixture is used, dont mix different types of coolant.
I usually check my transmission fluid with the engine cold and not running. You could check it both hot and cold just to see if there is any difference in the level.
You can just top the coolant up as long as you use the same type that is already in the system. The best way is to make up the correct concentration of antifreeze (not sure if that's what it's called out here, but that's what i've always called it because i'm a pom!) and water in a container and then use that rather than just adding water or neat antifreeze. That way you don't alter the antifreeze/water mix that's already in the system.
I think it's recommended to flush the cooling system and refill with new coolant once every 3 years.
i thought ppl might think its a stupid question thats all sircruisalot![]()
thats my problem i dont know what type of coolant is already in there?? so i might have to flush the system is it hard to do on a injected 5ltr??

always check the trans fluid level when the car is up to runnign temp, on a flat surface with it in park (with the engine running). usually, if the coolant is green, use green stuff. if it is red, then use the red stuff (standard holden stuff is red from memory)
