Default Is this VP fault, V6 fault or just bad luck?

My passenger side exhaust manifold has a crack between the middle and rear runners. When I removed the manifold from my spare VP I noticed it was cracked in the same place (though this was a smaller crack, on my car it was almost the whole way around). I am wondering if this is a known V6, or even VP problem?
Does a crack in the exhaust manifold above the O2 sensor mean the computer thinks the engine is running lean and compensate by making it run rich?

This is very common with VN S2 and VP's. It's because there made out of cast iron. My passenger one had a very fine crack on my VN s2 and only discovered it when i upgraded to extractors. If you have the cash then its a good excuse to get extractors

yep, and they said one of the reasons they replaced the series one steel headers with the cast ones, was cracking, yet ive never seen a cracked one, but we have 2 cracked s2 ones and one welded one in the shed.

make sure you preheat and postheat with gas tourch and that you clean out the crack well otherwise you should have no problems there is also a gas rod I cant quite remember the code something like a bc15 technical rod should be able to get one from the local engineers but they about 15 bucks each and may also have to get the gasket surface planed or it might just twist and crack again.Done a few before with no problems without planing them

Mig it is. Innershield wire (flux core stuff) works a treat.

Its good in the wind that flux core wire but can be messy i find.I got a big bottle of gas and a huge welder that you cant change the polarity of the cables so cant use the gasless wire anyway. But man can it weld panel steel and anything up to about 3/4 inch.

Be glad it's the passanger side manifold, it's so much easier to get to than the drivers side.

A lot of it is to do with the quality of the wire.... NR2107 spatter all over the place. NR211 Smicko. Weld 10" concrete lined pipe but weld clean as in 30 minis flat. 3 runs root/filler/cap. Put 10 lenghts (9m) in one day.
