hey all, i recently bought some ignition leads for my vq statesman 5ltr thinking it would be straight forward to fit?? there eagle eliminator edition leads 9mm, and when i looked under the bonnet not really paying much attention to the leads set up in the past, i popped the bonnet and thought wheres the effing dizzy and for that matter the leads there concealed really well, and thats the reason for this thread there concealed too well i cant effing get to them, its really hard to reach around behind the motor to get to the dizzy so i cant see what im doing , would any of you guys know how to get around this problem ??

pull leads off plugs and unclip dizzy cap and remove leads and plugs in one hit. Replace leads one at a time on a bench so you don't get confused then refit to car.
It's the only time I will EVER mention that Ford got something right by putting V8 dizzy's at the front of the motor not the rear.
dosnt look like the dizzy is even possible to get out its so tight![]()
any suggestions?? thanks for the previous tip btw.

yeah but for went and put there dizzy under the inlet on there 6's
wtf it looks impossible to take the dizzy cap off!! and ive been playing around with it for two hours and i cant get it of, the only way is to take the leads out of the cap that wil give me room, or if i disconnect the hoses behind the dizzy capp(what are these hoses for and is it safe to dissconrct them??) ive got a vq statesman i dont know if all vn up models have the same set up but i really need some help with this one![]()

If you can get the leads off one at a time, and replace one at a time, do that without taking the dizzy off if you can't get it off. They're pricks to get to, my mate has a VN-SS, no fun working on it. Thank the maker for my V6 with DFI and coil pack in the front.

i bought some eagle eliminator series 9mm leads and there not all the same length as the original bosch leads so does it matter if there not the same length at all and also they dont have the lead numbers on them?? thanks guys

Damn, firing order of a V8 can take ages to work out.
Do you know anyone with a gregory's manual for your car? If not, visit the local library and they should have it. The firing order WILL be in there.
Yeah, I learned the hard way to change one lead at a time, but that was on my old 4cyl mitsubishi so it only took me half an hour to suss out.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. I doubt my leads are factory length.

dont worry about length2 much as long as they reach... dizzy cap has 2 clips on it pop them off and cap should lift off.. take the injector covers off 2 give abit more room

First make sure you tackle the job when the engine is cold so you can lay over the engine to reach the back - unless you are tall and can reach it from the side. You need to remove the engine covers and tie back the heater hoses. That should give you enough room.
