    Default vn turbo

Went and took a drive in a vn v6 turbo today and gettin out of a pretty much stock vn calais 5sp in2 that i was very f@#$n impressed. Nearly bought it there and then to do a engine swap but being bankrupt im not allowed to own two cars with a combined total over 6k. Now im seriously dedicated to puttin a turbo setup into my calais at any cost. So if any1 out there has a complete kit or manifolds that would suit a series 2 let me know cause i now want it done asap.

just because im bunkrupt doesnt mean i dont have money, it just restricts the value of posessions i can have and im not sopposed to earn over 50k gross which ill have trouble keepin under. doesnt mean i cant save and spend it on things i want. being bankrupt doesnt mean ur broke, its quite the opposite.

he seems a pretty helpfull fella too. i emailed him about a month ago for a bit of info and he was only too happy to help me out..
pity ya didn't get a kit off him when he was selling the ones on ebay, cos i think from now on they kits will cost a little more as the other ones he was still playing around with them. well that what he told me anyways.. he might still be cheap.. look in the v6 section, tysons got pics there on one of the pages under "Another vn v6 turbo thread"

you'd probably want to consider rebuilding your engine depending on how many k's its done. My mate had a turbo kit on his 150k vn auto. The trans went, he blew his head and shot a piston out into his firewall. His engine was in good nick too so i would look at goin down this path before pushing large amounts of boost down ur engines throat. Preparation is the key to a reliable go fast car. Just bolting shit like this on causes all sorts of probs with stock internals. Mind you my mate was only pumpin 9psi as well...

Mate, people have tried to say that, but no one listens.

yeh was thinkin that would be the best way around things, safer that way.
any idea on what a bottom end rubuild would set me back. already got some ported heads that have been shaved 50thou. would i be able to use these, i realise the heads have to be decompressioned to allow for the extra boost.

    my calais turbo

    completly home made,

its not running yet but will be in 2 weeks

    total cost $2,000 so far

still needs a bit of welding
my intercooler, blow off valve and boost gauge to arrive off ebay
and last thing i need is a 3" exhust, but that can come later

the turbo conversion is a popular thing these days, ive been planning mine for over a year, it was a toss up between a SC14 and a Turbo, i gave into the turbo...:P its not something you can just decide im gonna do that today...

need to look into what suits the engine, i reccomend using a T04E a/r .50 inlet and a/r 0.68-70 exhust on a stock engine
other than that just pm me if u need any more info

Did your mate have a tune? bigger injectors? etc.
We all know that ya cant just bolt a turbo on a stock motor with stock tune and run 9psi and expect everything to be fine.

if your doing the bottom end, get some low-comp forgies in there, stock compression is already fairly low so you wont need to go much lower.

the lower compression you go the less N/A power you get.. meaning the slower you go before boost, unless your gonna run crazy boost its probbly not worth it and they cost LOTS, id just say fresh pistons with new rings and crank

after all Vengence ran 11s with ACL racing pistons and they arnt all that expensive,

if i rebuild this engine ill probbly just go ACL pistons, stronger rods and maybe a new crank shaft (with bearings piston rings and all that stuff of course)

if u want nice low boost set up go the acl race pistons prep the rods grind the crank arp bolts in the rods thicker head gaskets and it would be nice.

forged 4.2 stroker kit about 4k i believe.. Thats what ill be throwing at mine hopefully by easter.. Turbo should be on in under a month.. HOPEFULLY.. Plan to blow it up on the burnout pad at easter time then chuck the stroker motor in and up the boost to 11psi... Then get a decent computer and tune her up.. Hopefully i can get some nice figures out of her.
