Default V6 to V8 Conversion time

Hey guys, i own a VG ute. Has 260,000 kms on it. And now the motor is starting to cause me grief. The time has come to replace it or keep fixing everylittle thing that goes wrong. So has anyone done a conversion and how hard is it. I have a group of friends who have done plenty of kingswood conversion, 202 to 253 to 308 etc. But before i call them, was wanting to know from anyone else, how hard it is. i.e do the engine mounts hook up. will it fit the standard V6 five speed gearbox. do i need to get it enginered. given that they came out with a v8. any help would be great.

Let me know how you go with it.. I am curious about doing the same kind of thing to my VN.

Also, does anyone know the biggest engine that would fit into a VN ...

You need to change the brake booster to a dual diaphram jobbie but not the master cylinder. All utes (V8 or V6) came out up to VS with 15/16ths master cylinders and these master cylinders can not be replaced with sedan/wagon masters. The utes have a load proportioning valve fitted in under the tray. This allows for hreater fluid pressure to the rear calipers depending on load. The master is fitted with different internals on utes.

The front struts, steering (I think) K-frame, radiator, think about a trans cooler and thermo fans. You will need the computer and it's associated wiring harness, starter motor, air con, alternator, transmission, and also an instrument cluster from a V8 (there are differences internally between the V6 and V8). There is also some minor wiring going to the main harness. Exhaust will need replacing, set aside money to repair faulty sensors, and get it passed by the relative lisenceing branch.

Do a check on the engine number before buying incase it is hot.

yeah, was thinking of buying a wreck (a rear ended or rollover) so getting all the gear with it. Then converting it all over, so by the sounds of it, i wont have to do any cutting and changing of engine mounts or anything? its all straight swaps.......

They are all the same at the start of the production line , find a slightly stacked V8 and you will have no problems
