    Default temperature

Gday, many would know that i have just replaced my thermostat in my vn/s1-v6. Iwould like to know what normal temp range is,ive just taken my car for a drive 30c outside, the gauge showed 1 to 1and a half didits on the highway at 110/120kmh , went up to 2 to 2 and a half driying round town, both with a/c off,if i sit and idle for a while it may go up to 3 or just over on a 6 digit dial, then as soon as im underway it drops down to 1 to 1 and a half on the highway as befors. What i would like to know is ,are these readings o'k' ?, thanks...............
p.s. i opened the bonnet at idle when warm and the electric fan did come on.

sounds like what my VS was doin on the weekend. but thats coz my misses didnt check the water and it was nearly empty :S

all cars run at different temps. but obviously, the lower the better. my VS used to sit about half way on the temp guage most of the time (unles highway driving) but them it started over heating and crap so i got the thermostat replaced, full coolant flush and a new radiator cap and it runs fine after that. it now sits at about 1/4 temp all day everyday.

but as i said, all cars are different.

thanks for reply, the reason i ask is ,the gauge (if it worked) used to go up to 1 didgit, and hardly ever moved, but maybe it wasnt operating properly, so now whenever it moves i s**t myself, id do a radiator flush if i need to but not if its within the norm....

yeah a flush and clean never goes astray (unless you unclog blocked leaks in the process)

mine sits at about a quarter most of the time, but i only just fixed the sticky gauge prob, so it might go higher when the really hot days hit.

You may have an air lock in the system if you replaced the thermostat. Did you run the heater flat out when filling with coolant??

Sounds about right for a vn...Mine does the same, however, I have been told my thermostat might be playing up though...

well i no with mine it used to run on quarter and if it went over the thermo would come on, now it runs half, and the fan wont come on unless its over.. its its highly recommended to top up your car with GENUINE holden coolant every summer..
Don't blame me, It's that damn percadan..
