Hey everyone, first post here. Ive got a VP Berlina 92 November on a dual fuel setup but with a little bit of a strange problem. On GAS i get around 320KM's per tank but if i use petrol it is ALOT less for some reason, around 200KM's and sometimes less and this is when im not giving the car some. I was thinking it could be the oxygen sensor because i did a diagnostic the other day and code 44 came up, lean oxygen sensor singal, so would this mean the computer is giving it even more fuel when it is not needed thus wasting sh#t loads of it? any help would be great. Cheers

yea sounds like ur o2 sensor is screwed...specially if its givin you a code. its probally running rich and using lots of petrol.
dont know if you can tune the gas? may be sumthin to look into tho

Is it possible to clean the O2 sensor or would i be better off buying a new one? any places in adelaide and how much would i be looking at for one? Also when the car is running on LPG does the O2 sensor still function and work with the VP Computer?
buy a new one there is no way to clean the sensor

Just run the lpg and forget about the petrol problems![]()
The O2sensor is only used when running on petrol so it will not affect the way it runs on gas. You will ned to replace the o2 sensor to get good economy on petrol because it cannot be cleaned and might even be broken internally.
Cheers for that, but does it sound like its only the o2 sensor or possibly some other things are wrong?
The O2 sensor is still used while running on gas so if it is dead/dying it should affect running on both fuels. I guess that it is possible though, if the LPG has been 'tuned' to run with a dud sensor. (the petrol system cannot be - not easily anyway)
The ECM will still be trying to adjust fuel mixtures (without any effect) while running on LPG but because the LPG system will react slower while controlling the fuel/air mixture than the facory petrol system, it is possible that the O2 sensor voltage stays at a level that the factory computer 'sees' as a fault, hence the code 44.
On a 'gas car, I would be looking at dirty injectors as one possibility.
I have been told that if you run LPG then it will always bring up the O2sensor as a fault.Dont quote me on it though.
mine always brings up the codes for the o2 sensor lean and rich. i dont think theres any thing you can do about it

Cheers for all your help fellas, i ordered a new oxygen sensore of ebay, should arrive soon, its this one here http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=120068483813 . Also how do u go about getting the old one out, i have a workshop manual to the car but it doesnt say anything about it in there?
just need a spanner
Illegitimi Non Carborundum
its fair tight in there, is it easy'r to get it from underneath the car?
Ive only gotten to mine from underneath the car. All you will need is a shifter. If ifs nice and hard to get out, spray it with WD-40, give it a few taps around the outside and try again. I bought my Oxy Sensor new from Repco for $70. Hope that helps.
P.S. A tip is to keep the wires leading from the O2 sensor tucked away from the exhaust headers. I noticed that mine liked to lean on them. lol.
