G-day guys,

Im wondering is it possible to have an auto Computer/ECU work in a Manual? Or are they Different?

ok, in a vn/vp, all the ecu's are the same. its only the memcal that varies. and im pretty sure you can run a manual with a auto memcal depending which memcal it is.

i didnt even know the memcal varied in vn/vp between auto/manual. what memcal do the manual v6 people have? cheers

well iv got a 220kw or 215kw Computer out of a VN for a VN 5 Litre but its was out of an Auto, and iv got a Manual so would it work? would it do any harm if i tryed the Auto one in my Manual?

do u want to put the computer in so it bumps ur kw up to 215? is it a stock 5 litre? if yes then you are not goin to have the stroke and cam etc for the computer to run your motor properly.

the highest VN memcal rating is 200kw
215 was VR-VS 5.7
220 was VT S1 5.7
all HSV ones will need a knock sensor

I was thinking of getting a stock memcal off ebay for a small price, is it possible to drop to drop a slightly modified program onto it with say slightly altered spark advance etc?

yes it is, but if youre messing with it you might as well put a decent tune on it

How's that, I'm a network engineer and computer geek and I know f/a about memcals etc...

Now just gotta get me a spare memcal (I ain't messing with my stock one).

I have build hundreds of computers, rebuilt motors, done pipeline welding but cant get the hsv3800 tune onto my spare memcal!!

Man there is no excuses these days: ) I was driving around on the sv3800 in an hour after I got the burner and that was before it was so easy to find info how to do it. And I learned to weld afterrrrrr that

Yes just about anybody can weld - but there is welders and then there is well real welders..

And you said burner. This is not the cd type

Does anybody in SA do this work - that can be recommended or is it best to do a mail order type thing?

Any takers???

Don't forget spasm on SC run a 14.0 in a almost stock VN 5L with a group A memcal in it

Hi My old sv5000 was an auto and I swapped the auto for a manual out of my sisters Maloo and we didnt touch the comp or the memcal and they both worked fine
