Yeh i need help i have a vn executive and in the last couple of weeks in has been idling rough. then lately it has stalled a couple of times ESPECIALLY when i make a hard right turn. it also smells funny after i start it just afta it stalls. Has this happened to neone else. I think it might be the fuel pump???? Any Ideas??
could u describe that smell a bit better?
We got rep back, yaaay!
Yeh it smells sorta like burning ruber or fireworks sortof.... i had a look in my engine and decided to flush and change the coolant. The car still idles rough but not as rough as it used to and also it hasnt stalled once since i put the coolant and ive been turning it as hard right as i can. I also topped up the power steering fluid a bit aswell
The old VN's are running ruff more and more. Other things to look for are the DFI/coils, plugs n leads, fuel regulator and temp sensor. All could be doing there bit to make the car run like shit.
How is the fuel ecconomy?
White 05 V6 VZ Executive - Thrashed Ex Telstra car
and 3 Dangerous non ABS VN's
I had a bad problem like that with it running bad and stalling when i put the gear into another like park neutral. Then i changed the O2 sensor. they are meant to be replaced every 80,000 k,s and now its runnign good. I got myne brand new for 41 but make sure its wiring is corrcet if replcing them. Its ether 1 or 2 wire O2 sensor. good luck
do you have any fluid leaks from the power steering rack?
It is common for a Commodore to stall when put on full lock quickly or put in gear and have the steering operated at the same time.
It is possible that you may have some power steering fluid leaking onto the exhaust when it goes full lock but it would be unlikely to be the smell you are smelling. Have you cleaned your car? Have you had a shower?
Seriously the sort of smell you described is something I would associate with an electrical fault. Something would have to overheat or burn to make a smell like that.
