Hey Guys,
Ive just converted from my 308 to a stock vn 3.8ltr and am pretty novice when it comes to fuel injection, i was wanting to know what can i do get get extra power before i think of getting into engine rebuilds, I bought a chip for my ecu but what else can i do, larger throttle body, pod filter??, extractors...any help would be a bonus
new high flow exhaust + extractors, CAI, lager throttle body, K&N filter. tiss about all the simple things.
yeah a better catback, and extractors are a good next step. pod or panel filter with a CAI.
check here for ideas, it's about the ecotech, but still useful
Requesting help from VT/VX owners
if you want the power put the 308 bac in
Stato on the inside, berlina on the out side,5ltr under the bonnet, stockies all round...........that thing has to be a sleeper

I do plan to get back on to a v8 with the vp but atm i dont wanna spend the money for power thats why i wanna change the little things
If you have a series 2 vn then remove the bell houseing from between the throttle body elbow and the intake plenum.
Get the super 6 intake set from Holden or buy the exact same one with Aunger stickers on it from your parts shop.
You can get a reprogrammed chip put in.
Get pacemaker extractors put on.
Install some 1:8:1 Yella Terra roller rockers.
Use better plugs (splitfires or NGK iridium plus 4s).
Use Topgun leads or Magnecor leads.
Put in a K'nN filter.
Get the injectors cleaned or at least get some Holden Topend Cleaner and put it in a 3/4 tank of juice and top it up a little after with a few litres.
Put a 65mm V8 throttle body on. Any bigger is a waste as the opening into the intake plenum is only 68mm anyway. The stock V6 throttle body is 60mm.
If you have an auto make sure you get a throttle body for a VN V8 auto so you can connect the kick down cable up.
It is a bit debateable but MSD ignition coils would be a go. I was happy with mine but in hind sight would have gone some factory super 6 coils as they are stronger than the MSD (MSD without the amplifying stuff wired up).
Pod filters are illeagal and are going to draw in hot air and make a hell of a racket as well. Drawing in hot air from under the bonnet is going to slow your car down! Pod filters will look good and only perform when it is winter and cold. They ,in my opinion, only get put on to make the engine bay "modified". There is always the odd exception to this but as a whole it is worth while getting the super 6 intake. Best bang for buck.
Get a Corvette servo for ya gear box if it is an auto. This will change the shift on first into 2nd gear from soft and slow to a quick hard shift. Mine spins the wheels no worries if I give it enough.
Fit an external trans cooler. This extends the life of ya trans but keeps it cooler and therfore stays a little quicker round town.
A cam is a go but the roller rocker package is cheaper and easier and gives a similar effect without effecting the tune much.

Very well said.
I FRYED RICE!!!
You can get a Cam along with roller rockers. 1.8:1 is the highest ratio rocker available for the VN, and they come from the Yella Terra Ultralite range. The lift on these is nothing major, so a large cam is still a definite option. A custom ground cam and tune along with rockers will make a big improvement.
Stock ratio rockers on VN is 1.6:1, and its meant to be atleast 1hp gain per :1 increase in ratio, so with 1.8:1's you should gain 20hp if not more (especially with other modifications).
