Last VN date I have is 17/9/91
The first VP date is 26/9/91....so far

The last serial number for a VN I have found to date is 528994 made around the 17th September 1991.
Early pilot VP's were probably made from August 1991 onwards but the main production for the VP's started around 25th September 1991. The earliest VP serial number I have found to date is 530127 26 September 1991
So VN's may have finished around 530000 and the VP's started at 530001.

Well the build date of the 3/6/91 put the s/n around 50900 - 509500.

Am I close?

Yep inside the last few thousand - when you conside they made 215180 VN's
