    Default VP's sick :(

I got my VP out of the shed for the first time in a few months today and it's not happy, it goes slow and doesn't run on many cylinders when idling. I'm hoping the dead flat battery is the cause if not I think I have issues it just doesn't have the POWA anymore

i hadthe same problem when i got my VH outa the garage after a 1.5 years, it ran like crap so i put it away again. later when i was bored one day i pulled the fuel line of the fuel tank and the fuel started to chyphon (spelling??) out, it smelled like turps. i recon you should drain your fuel tank and put some fresh petrol in it as the stuff in there is probably no good. might have fouled the plugs also

Yeah.. Petrol goes stale. If its a few months old, its probably gone stale. Your VP is probably trying to run on 50 octane petrol

In your petrol tank, it will only take about a month to go stale.

OK, I put half charged battery in it and it's still showing me a battery light
I hope that will go off after some more driving.

I've got about 10 liters of very ancient (3 months old?) fuel in it and 12 liters of fresh 95, the engine sounds good now firing on all 8 but shes a bit slower than it should be, running 6.4s to 60 mph on the gtech it's still breaking some traction off the line but must be loosing out on the top end so yeah anyways maybe it will be better if I go for a hoon and then get a big heap of fresh 98 octane in it, it was doooooooooog slow with the other battery like prolly wouldn't go faster than 8 seconds to 60 mph :P anyway I wont be happy till its back in 6.1 ish form at least

yeah, a nice tank of premium and a fully charged battery should sort it, take for a long drive and burn everything clean from that crappy old fuel thats in there

It's running ok now fitzy, it was just the battery, the alternator maybe dead too but I'll check that when I get home tonight, I've never had a error code on any of my Commodores I'm starting to wonder if they are real:P

Grrrrrrr I still have no electronical power, I need more investigations into this, I don't think it's the alternator itself so I'll have to follow some wires and see what else could be broken

Oh, they're real all right. Fry the fcuk outta an 02 sensor and you'll be seeing lean codes left right and centre.

Hell, could always just be a dud battery. You charged up the flat battery right? But did you check the electrolyte level?

I bought a brand spank battery today and also found the brown wire to the alternator broken so everythings fixed now I cut the tow bar off totally and I was going to reweld the parcel shelf (dodgy speaker boyz used to own it) but my dad wouldn't let me weld that close to the tank :/ since he knew a guy that exploded himself. So I'll pulll the tank out on the weekend, I have some other welding to do reallllllll close to where the tank is to fix some holes from the towbar anyways so thats all good, maybe as well paint the tank again while I'm there hey for tonight I'll continue my light weight mission and remove all the body deadner from the boot, well all that I can with the heat gun. I chased down some hoons in a VN V6 (sideways pulling out onto the highway and instant on their bumper ) ahh good to have vastly superior power again, I was getting tired of driving a AU . In fact I had lots of go fast action today and last of late brakers verging on smoke action, I think I need a few days to get used to driving it again then I'll settle down.

Oh yeah I also got a 82c/180 thermostat. Yay! perfect temp, should be worth a little power in theory
