Hi all,
I have a 1992 VP Berlina and suddenly today the left and right indicators are not working at all. No noise or anything comes up on the dash, or on the actual indicators themselves, but if I press the hazards on they work! So I am totally stumped as to why its not working. Any ideas?
im taking a guess that it would be the indicator stalk has worn the contacts away, so it isnt switching the indicators.
the hazards are seperate to the indicator stalk, so they will work unless the hazard switch dies, but since it rarely gets used, i dont think it will ever die.
goto the wreckers and try and find a working stalk, or you can buy them aftermarket from places like autobarn, we keep a few on the shelf usually. but i cant remember the price.
just check ur fuse's.. i had the same problem, and i found out my indicator fuse was busted, yet my hazards worked fine.... Just something small and easy to check dude!

Ive checked the fuses and ive tried using 2 different indicator stalks![]()
Only leaves dodgy flasher unit or wiring fault as the culprits then
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
wiring, because if the flasher can was stuffed, the hazards would be aswell.
ok, thanks for that guys, looks like a trip down to the auto elecs for me...![]()
on the VN, the fuse for the indicators and hazards are seperate, but the indicator fuse is shared with the windscreen wipers.
I found this out when a wiper got jammed and poped a fuse and i lost indicators, bit still had hazards.
Check if your wipers work too. if not - replace the fuse, 15A.
Other than that then a likely culprit could be the indicator stalk.
Dont like my driving? Get off the sidewalk!

Just guessing here, but it wouldn't be unheard of to have separate flasher units for indicators and hazards....
i had something similar, no high beams. holden dealership said it was the combo switch and quoted something ungodly to repair, got a new one from the wreckers, didn't fix it so i chucked the old one back in (less worn)
when i checked, the fuse was fine, but i took it out, noticed some gunk on the terminals, after cleaning that off, they worked fine.
