Hey there everyone,
Been reading the posts lately and it seems like a lot of people on the VN-VP Just Commodores Forum want to change from the 4sp auto to a 5 speed manual. My wagon is a VP manual (Im pretty sure its the T5). I was told by a Commodore parts wrecker that Holden made one manual for every 100 Commodore produced (in the VN-VP era). Does anyone know more about this? To quote his comment, he said my car was "Rare as shit!". Mind you, I getting lazy these days so I shoulda got an auto, but with the 3.8L V6 and the manual I'm getting just under 10 litres/100km (city/highway) so its pretty economical for a big car.
Just did a search on Carpoint/Carsales for V6 manual VN-VP's, Australia wide (Yes, I have too much time on my hands). It worked out to about to about 21manuals (sedans, wagons) to about 300+ autos!! Many more for SS's and other V8s but I just wanted to see about the V6/5sp manual combo.
Just thought I'd throw this question into the mix.
BTW, to anyone who answered my "VP losing power whilst driving" post, I'm getting the Crank Angle Sensor changed this weekend as well as getting my mechanic to check the coil pack and DFI as some of the replies said to do. I'll let you know how it all goes.
All the best![]()

There was a thread I started on this a while ago. I think it was 5% or something the number I had been hearing. Or was it 15%?
i got an sv enhanced manual vp, i think i read something like 75 were made
21 to 300 sounds about right in total, more autos were sold int he city and more manuals in the country but not many of the cars are still in the locations they were when first sold. The was definatly more than 1 manual in a hundred cars though, I would have thought at least 10 per 100 autos

there are plenty of VN manuals around, might be hard to find one with low mileage though, then as you go through VP to VR to VS etc there are less and less manuals i believe

I've got myself a factory vn v6 5 spd calais...
Ive got 2 manuals An S-pack and a berlina although the S-pack has been written off the front half of the car is fine, both finds were flukes both had under 200,000 on the clock, the S-pack came with lsd which is now in the berlina which makes for a bit of fun every now and then. Just thought id put my 2 cents in after seein that there werent many factory T5's and ive got 2.
You realise I thought I was onto a goldmine, what with all my VP manuals lying around. Then I realised you meant the transmission, not the little book in the glovebox!!
VN-VP manual transmission cars aren't rare at all. When I was hunting for my VP wagon 18 months ago they were all I could find for ages. No autos anywhere. I found one though... all good.

here in NZ there are a plenty of VN manuals but i haven't seen many VP manuals. most are over 250km's though so mine was a real find when it had only 65km, single owner s1 VN
