Default Plastic flange or pipe for water hose

My VP (6 cyl) has broken a crappy plastic hose fitting or flange that bolts into the engine just beneath the thermostat housing (looking from the front). It connects a very short piece of 17mm hose from the water pump.

Can anyone tell me what the fitting is called, or maybe give me a part number? I just want to know what I am referring to when I go to the auto parts places so I can help them find it in their database.

FYI - I found water leaking from the hose, and tried to nip up the clip. The whole fitting just disintegrated and fell apart when I barely touched it! I had to drill the piece out (they are a bugger to remove), so there is not much left to show the parts stores.

You can only get them from Holdens. Explain what and where it is and they will know because it is pretty common and they are pretty cheap. About $5 Trade Price. Make sure you get the O Ring as well

it is pretty common....the one at the rear should be replaced at the same time.. its a prick of a job to do the rear one with the manifold still on but if the front ones rooted the rear one is more than likely gonna be the same

Thanks for your response. I picked up the piece (comes with O-ring) from Holden for 8 bucks. I had to take the thermostat out so I could clean all the rubble the old piece left behind and flushed the cooling system while I was at it.

I'm too scared to touch the plug at the rear while it's not leaking, but at least I'll know where to look for the next water leak.

I still can't believe Holden decided to use plastic instead of a normal metal pipe.

    Cheers,
    Dave
