Default Crackhead vs VN Air Intake

Well to keep a long story short - a very well intentioned character spent a fair amount of time in the wee hours of sunday morning tinkering with my vn. In the process of which, my air filter has been relocated to the mouth of the throttle body, and the previously connected piping rigged up in such a way as to supposedly flow some cold air back to the filter (see pics). Being a relative newbie myself i was just wondering you can can see any benefits/problems arising from this setup. Should i swap it back to how it was? I've noticed a drop in my economy as well, but could possibly be due to way i've been driving lately. Thoughts appreciated, cheers.

even with the pipe pointing towards the filter i dont beleve it will create much of a suction through it. it is more then likley sucking in HOT air seeing as its so close to your exhaust manifold.

personaly myself, i would put it back and just pickup a CAI and a k&N filter and you will get a much better result from that.

I would certainly be reverting to the stock intake setup. Having your car breathing in that location, will only result in the acquisition of hot air rising from your exhaust manifolds, and heads.

I'd put it back. I've seen setups like that before. Great for throttle response, crap for horsepower and economy.

agreed, The Super 6 intake is tryed and true for the best set up. it will set you back 70 odd from Holden and will give the benifit of high pressure cooler air from the front of ya VN/P. You will have to remove the seal from the bottom edge of the bonnet but.

The set up you have is WOFTAM. "Waste Of ucken Time And Money".
