Hey guys,
I was just down at Harvey's, our local crap u pull it wreckers getting some central locking wiring off a VS. I thought I'd poke around some of the VNs, and I found a series 1. Pulled the ECU out and removed the memcal. I thought I'd grab a spare one in case I ever can get someone to re-flash one for me. The writing on it says:
Delco
AFTX
7330
This chip should slot into my VP auto shouldn't it?

Says here on Doc Bob's site that was a very early tune that was cancelled due to backfiring problems.
Beau Duke: Man, I'm never gonna get outta this car again. I'm gonna live in it, I'm gonna eat in it and I'm gonna make sweet love to it!
Luke Duke: You mean you're gonna make sweet love IN it.
Beau Duke: Oh no, I'm gonna have sex with it.

I'm fairly sure the VN and VP ran the same computer, should be fine.

Yeah all the V6 memcals from VN-VR and interchangable once you burn the right tune for the job on them
Next step... somehow get a tune onto it.

Better start doing some reading then![]()
First I gotta make sure I can get my current memcal out. Spent half an hour in the passenger footwell this arvo drilling rivets out of this crappy peice of pre-fab sheet steel preventing access to the ECU. It still won't budge.
Some lovely person also replaced all the screws holding the glove box in with rivets too... I really want to find the previous owner of this VP and have them beaten.

That's Holden that put the metal in there man :P
It's the VP's anti theft setup, seems like it's working on you![]()
Yeah, holden doing the ecu casing, I gathered that (although it looks friggin terrible), the glove box though, that's just silly. Probably the same cat who removed half the central locking bits and lost the remote...
I'll get it off tomorrow, was sunny out and I was cooking today. I probably screw the metal back in once I'm done, slow the buggers down a bit.

There's a special service tool to move that security cover over the computer. I had to use it recently on my car. It's called "the right hand" tool. Works really easy. Hook the special tool over the edge of the cover and give it a good yank down and away from the 'puter. Bends easy enuf to get at the connectors and mountings.......![]()
Interesting.
Gonna hit the rivets with a bigger drill bit tomorrow. Been told it'll just come off after that.

Or an even easier way which I have done at least a dozen times is just give the heads of the rivits a chrisp hit with a sharp cold chisel and you will have the cover off in about 5 minuites flat.
Cheers...![]()

i just drilled the rivets out, they are hardened, but just be harder....
