Default VN Auto LED's are gone

Does anyone out there know if there are any DIY Tech articles for replacing the lights/LEDS under the Automatic gear shift? its a buggery to try and find the right gears in the dark with no lights. (To see 1-2-D-D-N-P etc..)

    its 1 little globe.
take the ashtray out, pull up the shifter surround.
you will see the globe in its socket on the right hand side of the lever.
    replace the globe
    all fixed

My Light doesnt work in the Calais either. I replaced the globe but still no go. There is a light in the console lid on the Calais' and this is missing and there is a coupla wires dangling around in the hole. I think the shifter position light is hooked up to this light in series thats sposed to be in the console lid but as it is missing and the wires arent hooked up its not sending current through the globe for the shift position light.
Anyone got a wiring diagram for this part of the electrical system handy?
Or can draw me a "Mud map" diagram of how these lights are sposed to be hooked up?

    Cool

try the #16 fuse should be a 5 amp blade fuse.

controls a/c lamp, cigarette lighter lamp, arial switch lamps and heater control lamp.

Failing that make sure you are connected at the front (under the stereo area) of the centre console. And/or you have a good earth.

    Regards Guy

p.s. I did a section in the HOW-TO SECTION on how to get the stereo out, it explains how-to remove the centre console and/or the gear lever surround etc.

My ciggarette lamp and the lights around the heater/aircon display all work, but the light for the shifter doesnt. Just wondering if the shifter light needs to be earthed anywhere or if someone had a wiring diagram so I can re-run the wiring to the shifter light.
I dont have a multi-meter or I would use that to see why power isnt getting to the light for the shifter.
    Thanks for the reply tho

Do as you require with this info but due to copyrite info I'm going to remove this info in 24hours as I do not wish the site to get into any trouble for its us. As for the post to your email I had to get clarification on the copyrite first and youe email did not have enough space to send it...

    sorry Guy.

Info via Gregories Automotive, Book 430 automotive wiring diagrams pp 85

ps v6 should be about the same

HAhHa Looking back on old threads is fun.. I have now had my car for about 6 months.. and ripped apart my dash completly.. i can now do it in the dark!!!! no joke something needs doin i can fix it.. gotta love the VN Commodores.. Yeah i fixed the light havn't had a problem since, ALSO aLMOST Replaced every other lil ... BaRSted Too. 2 lights in the climate control, 2 in the L.H.S Cluster controls, 2 globes in the L.H.S Cluster... umm.. and a few in the instrument cluster itself. all up about 8 globes over 6 months, i was speaker to the bloke i bought it off and he reckons he has never had the knowledge or time to fiddle around with it.. but now for me.. its nothing, globes cost me about 50.c each which aint bad.. and havn't had a problem since

Im probably the only VN S'pak in N.T. or W.A. to have everything fully functioning (including tail lights :P) Yet to find someone who hasn't had a problem.
