hi all. anyone know anything about heat rap for exhaust? i have heard a few bad things about it ruining welds on extractors and so on but has anyone got proof of it happening?
just get a heat shield, or better yet make one yourself.
yeah, don't heat wrap your exhaust or manfolds. i was at an exhaust place the other day and the bloke was telling me about ceramic coating the inside and outside.. much better off..
like pow3rslave said. make up sheilds
yea that could be a good idea cant be that difficult. might make engine bay look abit better too
The idea of heat wrap is to contain the heat within the exhaust. The hotter you keep your exhaust components the better the gases flow. Hence the reason a lot of original equipment is heat shielded. The trade off is that the components dont last as long. I agree with ceramic coating, it's job is to keep the extractors hot therefore achieving a better flow rate. Not really noticeable unless you race though.
well bad for welds??? so what the pipe just gets hotter and the weld is the weakest part
its useful for turbo's when you have a 3" pipe running thru ur engine bay just after a turbo
i just custom made my dump pipe, its big...!
