    Default VP Rockers

i'm looking into getting some higher ratio rockers for my VP in the distant future (too poor right now) and the FIT subforum's led me to believe that FIT don't make em for the VP (Buick)

YellaTerra's Site's down, but looking at rocketind.com the biggest i can see is 1.6:1. don't they make them any bigger? the ecotec has 1.8:1's/

anyone shed any light on what the biggest rocker set i can fit (safely) to a V6 VP?

1.8:1 Ultralites buddy from Yella Terra.

Online mail order sites such as VPW do not stock them so contact Yella Terra directly.

1.6:1 is the stock ratio. 1.7:2 Stealth Rockers are the highest available rocker on the mail order sites. The 1.8:1 ratio is fairly new for the buick engine.

FIT's business is all about the L67 engine, not the Buick. So yeah they have nothing worth interest for us, only the ecotec boys.

radicool, the 1.8:1 are safe for an older engine? it's not tired and clapped, but i don't want to put excess wear on it.

are new pushrods or any other mods advised?

Nah just need the rockers for the VN-VR.

And yeah they are safe for an older engine... MIGHT have to get taller rocker covers though, im not 100% sure.

Did I read in a YT ad that the push rods come with the package? pretty sure I did. It may have been in Street Machine?

I have heard that before, but is that for the VS or the VN-VR?

I can get the part number if needed if that could help anyone find out.

yeah bro, if you're able can you get the part number for the 1.8's and the 1.7?

so you're saying that the new rockers are all i need to get this conversion going? they come with the new guide plate, right?

(and maybe a taller set of covers)

You could get a spring and retainer set from Crow Cams just to be on the safe side but its definitely not needed... Thats what most of the Ecotec boys do for 1.9:5 style ratio's...Yella Terra sell a spring and retainer set FROM crow cams, but this only suits Ecotec engines. They are $318rrp from YT for the ecotec versions.

Plate is included yeah...Everything to do the job comes with the rockers.... and I actually am now 100% sure you DONT need taller rocker covers... The rockers from yella terra are now a billet style and are low profile so no spacer is required these days.

Pushrods are NOT NEEDED for the Buick Engine. ONLY for the Ecotec. If you wanted pushrods for a VN-VR you'd go turbo buick ones anyway, shorter and use in conjunction with forged pistons.

Part Numbers (There is also a 1.6:5 ratio available but wont bother listing it):

    Stealth Rockers:
    Ratio: 1.72:1
    Price: $589.35
    Part Nos.
    VN pre december 1990: YT2016
VN post december 1990 to VR S2: YT2017

    NEW Lite Weight Rockers (UltraLites):
    Ratios: 1.7:1 or 1.8:1
    Price: $589.35 for 1.7:1 $690 or so for 1:8.1
    Part Nos.
    VN pre december 1990: YT6656 (1.7) YT6657 (1.8)
    VN post december 1990 to VR S2: YT6658 (1.7) YT6659 (1.8)

radic00l, I'm totally going to get the 1.8 ultralites. thanks all.

just have to wait until i can afford them (damned insurance and speeding fine)

hopefully i'll be able to talk my folks into paying some of my 1k insurance, otherwise i might have to wait a while for rockers...

i'll keep you all posted, but i'd love to have em by dyno
