    Default front door pods

Hey, i have had a long search through the forums but haven't found an answer so here goes..

I got a VN Series 1, and I have the trims off the doors for installing VR pods. Im wondering if I need to drill through the metal frame of the door to screw on the black plastic holder. I can only see 1 major hole for the outside of the holder, and 2 smaller holes. It doesn't all line up very well and would be too unstable with only a couple of screws in it. Also should the black plastic caseing be upside down when fitting it?

If you need pics that can be done.

I thought they just went on with self-tappers through the back of the door skin into holes in the back of the pods themselves...

Interesting, because it's a mod I've been considering myself.

the black speaker pod screws onto the door itself (the metal part where the big hole is where the speaker goes). you have to cut a hole in your door trim so that the speaker mount can go throuh. ill post some pics of how i did it in my VP.

EDIT: That sound deadening was temporary

thanks for that, its exactly what i managed to do. Unfortunately when i took off the door trim the blue spikes didn't come off with the trim so im going to have to try my luck with some very strong glue.

Those bloody retaining spikes are a pain. In the course of fixing my central locking, all the door skins were removed several times, sometimes the spikes would come out, other times they wouldn't.

Are the screw holes already there for the speaker spacer to screw to the door?

not on the VN there's only one hole in the door. You have to drill through the steel to make a couple more.
