I got my minispool from ebay for $98 including postage. Works a treat, seems strong as..
how hard are these to install?

yeh installing a spool is kinda tricky if you havnt done it before... dont pay 150... thats way too much anywhere from 90 to 120 is ok or a second hand one for cheaper is good too... i sold my old vl one 25 spline for $40...
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
I haven't seen many cars with spool stay very straight lol.
I drove a VN Calais 5Lt with spool... Man i hated it for normal driving conditions.. Felt like i was driving a stretched limo at times.
But there cheap i guess.

few tips..
.crown bolts are left hand thread
.make sure you put the center shims and bearings in the same way they came out
.if you can, try take out the whole diff or use a hoist, but its easier to work below your head than above.
.put ur axle stands under your chassis not ur diff or use a hoist but try above first.
.an easy way to remove the axle shafts is after u have undone the 4 bolts put the rim back on and use it as a slide hammer
.crack the crown bolts before you take out the center
Don't forget, 2 spare tyres in the boot.
Mate of mine with the VN Calais 5lt miny spool got his hands on my flat spotted front tyres, In 4 min they weren't flat spotted any more, Infact!, They had no grip any more.
And all he was meant too do was get rid of the flat spot.

what exactly is a mini spool, i know its something for ur diff, im geussing it turns it into a locker or lsd or does it make it a more powerfull diff?
If you do things righ people wont know you have done anything at all...
a mini spool replaces the spider gears in your differential, thus locking your differential FULL TIME.
And wanting too go straight even when turning, They sound cool outside you can never miss them on cars. But they feel funny inside when turning in a shopping centre slow
. But they are pretty predictable when going hard but not the best for day 2 day driving.

yeah i have never had that problem either likes to push in the wet a bit tho. like they say lifes straight with out a spool.
i never had that even in the wet... front tyres were fine, ass end used to push out thoughwet OR dry

for example when you turn left in a car the left wheel spins slower and the right wheel spins faster, this helps you turn. with a minispool both wheels spin at the same speed so when you turn left the left wheel does a screetches. understand? and its the same for when you turn right except the opposite.why does everyone always say they make you want to go straight when turning??? maybe it has to do with certain cars because i never had this problem
dude ive had 3 spooled cars with over 4 yrs of spooled experience i know how they work i ment people are saying that the car pushes the front wheels straight when they try and turn, i can see how in theory it would seem so but it just never done it to me
EDIT: plus all the welded diffs in my paddok bashers![]()
