Just found out the 5,000,000 holden was/is a RED VN Calais built in 1990.
The serial number is between 403,000 and 484,000 (approx)
Does anyone on this forum drive a 1990 red calais?
I know its long shot stuff but I've been working on the production history of Holden for some time and would like to add to the story if I can.![]()
PM me if you would like to keep it quiet![]()

Hey there
Seeing we are talking about Million Milestone Holdens, if anyone is ever in Echuca check out the Holden Museum. There is Holden's 4 millionth car, a gold VC Commodore with, I **** you not, no more than 8 or so kays on the odo!! (or close enough to it). I know this is the VN-VP page but its part of the Commodore history so its worth a look.
Seeing this post got me 'Googling' and there is a page on the Holden website with some Million Milestone Holdens. I think 7 million is the next one...

Also, if you are interested in the Holden Museum, the details are here...

yeh theres a red ss up there which is the 6,000,000 holden. I heard a myth saying there was a straight 6 up there as well that was meant to go into the VNs. Aparently GM said no and gave them the Buick
Cheers
We went up to Birdwood Museum for a cruise late last year although I don't recall seeing a straight 6 VN up there, I have seen images of the VL engine in the VN but never in real life, something about the tax or dollar value if my memory serves me correctly stuffed it up.
As for the 6,000,000 Holden look no further than
here, here and here
The first link is good but the 2nd and 3rd failed?
I have a video file of the 6,000,000 car being made from start to drive of the line (2.6mb to big to post up) but the sound file didnt say what day it was made.
From the first photo I could see it was made on the 7th of June 2001 AND if I go have a look myself I could get the serial number off it. I'll just have to make the trip!!

gee, never seen a bloke so dedicated, good work, by the way, is it just a hobby you have or something different??
A hobby that has got out of control![]()
Just want to know what number my Holdens are. + The family has several old Holdens too. When I nail the 6,000,000 serial number on the VX, I'll be able to tell what number Holden people have. EG the 5,000,000 VN was built in 1990 but thats all I know, but find the 6,000,00th and just take a mill off....whalla!!!![]()

It's true they developed a straight six and buick VN side by side because they didn't know if they could get the buick out in time. The plan was to bring the VN out with the 3 litre and replace it with the buick at the first facelift.
hmm if it did happen vn turbo's would be everywhere lol
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
Holden spoke to me via email Yippy!! It was a CC of the email I sent being passed on to some one with in the Holden HQ. But I may yet get some info....

Well the date for the 5,000,000 Holden is the 29/8/90 and puts the serial number at around the 458,000. (thats worked out on production rates of 180 units per day)
I'm only a few hundred units away from party time.
I've been working at this for a while and have a very big spreadsheet now with lots of build plates to back up the info.

SOOO by my first estimate calculations:
5,000,000 = s/n 458,000 (I have done some rounding)
My 88 VN is the 4,848,000th Holden made (306,610)
and
My 91 VN is the 5,050,000th Holden made. (508,619)
I can sleep tonight!!

The 6,000,001 th Holden was donated to charity so who ever won a VX around June - August 2001 is driving that car around!

So the 5,000,000th holden was/is a RED VN Calais built in 1990? My mate has a calais built in 90 i think but its that metalic maroon colour... could that be it?
kilowatts are like drugs, the more you get, the more you want.

Do the Toyota Lexen's continue to run the same build numbers as the holdens? eg First lexen build number start at 4 million and something?
