Hey anyone out there no what to look out for when rolling the guards on my Vn, im just a bit worried bout somehow screwing it up, any mistakes people have made when doing this might stop me from making the same ones (my panel beating skills are a little rusty), cheers![]()
There not hard to do.
I did mine with a rubber mallet and a peice of thick rubber rectangle like they use at tyre places to put under tha car when they get put on the low hoist's.
I had my bro pressing the rubber block against the outside of the guard while i wacked the inside of guard.
Wat u have to watch for is that u are not bending the metal outta shape when ur wacking it.
This is y the rubber block is good as it stops the metal from bending outta shape n keeping it flat.
Should only take 10min a guard including takin off the wheel.
yeah, i thought it wouldn't be difficult, just hate the thought or creasing my nice straight rear panels. thanx for the info, just got to find some one to help me now...
yeah the rubber block is a must to stop the bends/creases
If u dont have that then do it nice and carefull
jack up the car and put a peice of 2-3inch galv pipe or a bassball bat on your tyre then lower the car onto it then roll or drive the car foward and backwards slowly get some freinds to weigh the car down little by little while going back and fowards it sounds brutal I know but it does a very nice job can flare up to about 100mm wide .I used to have a proper guard flaring tool that just bolted onto the wheel studs and had a roller on it and a handle to increase the pressure on the arch and you just moved it back and foward while tightning the handle as the guard flared professionally made thing some hire centres here in NZ hire them out.Did just as good a job with a bit of pipe .Dont quite know how youll go with the flat part of the rear guards might have to trim it after.
yeah thats how i did it with pipe.jacked up car held pipe there and roled the tyre worked perfect...havnt did back yet.
