Has it just stopped working or has it always been dead?

Have you tried the digital speedo?

If the digital speedo is not working it could be the speed sensor. When I replaced a cluster not long ago the bloke said not to pull the cluster apart until I'd established if the sender was working or not. I dont know where this sender is - but I assumed it was not in the cluster.

sensor is on the side of the transmission (i think). it goes from there to the back of the dash, and then over to the ecu
