    Default what is wrong?

    (VN S2 MOTOR)

Ok who can tell me what is wrong with my motor.

I turn the key on (cold start) without starting the motor and the radiator cooling fan comes on, the motor starts then stops or misfires, the engine symbol light is on, I check the code and it does one flash pause then two flashes, so that is code 12. Thats normal as in OK.

If I take it for a drive, it starts then stops, it may drive for 20 metres to 1km.

Any idea what could be doing this?

Temperature Sensor (ECU), check that, pretty sure thats your problem. The sensor is located behind the alternator.

sounds like it is running in limp home mode so there must be a problem with one of your sensors, when u checked your fault codes did u let it flash for a while because sometimes it will go 12 12 12 then tell u the fault, or it could be something wrong with your ecu because i think the fault code for that is 12 aswell. just somethings to think about before u buy a temp sensor unit, there should be a way to test it, it might be in the gregorys book..

I do not understand what you mean????

Ok I have changed the Temp Sender Unit and it has stopped the fan comming on before the motor starts.

So that problem has been solved.

But it still starts and stops now and then and the yellow engine light comes on and off !!!

    What should I do now?????

Thanks for all your help on this matter.

I think he means the aldl plug which you used to show fault codes on cluster.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while to reset ecu and run through test mode again.

    Yes it does work.

The cooling motor fan was working when the motor wasn't on and the yellow engine light was on while the motor was running and flicking on and off and someone said to check the code to see what code was showing 12 12 12 all ok there. Someone said to replace the Temp sender unit. I changed it and the fan stop. The following day the fan started to start again while the motor was off. "BUGGAR" So I replaced the coil pack thinking it may have been that. "WRONG" That didnt fix the problem. So I changed the ECU "WOOHOO" That fixed it. Bloody old cars.

Thanks for all your help everyone, Cheers

M8 i hate to say it but!... a simple reset probably would have done it rather than replace the ecu? but youv'e done it now and alls good!

just in case no-one knows but if you pull the fuse to the fuel pump and then put it back in it will re-set the BCM (body control module) which has a lot to do with ya steering and electronics in the vehicle.

you will know if you done it right cause both front and rear driver side indicators will flash twice!

The main engine fuse is the one to pull - leave it out for 10 sec before putting it back in.

But the ECU can also be stuffed - one way to check is to put the old one back in before you toss it out. See if it behaves badly again.
