Went and got a price on a redback 2.5" zorst, no extracotrs, and the guy said he has one in stock, and it goes straight from cats down to muffler and then straight throught with no resignator, and he has a awsome tip that splits to 2x3" and he said it will sounds good, but then a mate said they normally sounds really drony without a resignator??? what truth is there 2 this...
If you do things righ people wont know you have done anything at all...
Yeah, a system without the last muffler can give off quite a drone on highways. Depends on individual systems. Legally, you -should- have a system with two mufflers, (post-'86 rule, car must retain factory number of resonators), but you know, most people get away with just the one. I also think the single-muffler redback system slightly exceeds 90db, while the two-muffler redback system just complies.
A system with one muffler can sound awesome though. When I bought my VP it had a 2.5" system with one muff. Sounded sweet as. Had to get the factory exhaust system re-installed for roadworthy though.

well it would depends as said above, if car is a manual i think they generally drone less, i mean mine droned less when i took the resiie off!
cheers
Yep, auto's tend to be more drony than manuals. Redbacks are pretty good as long as he's not trying to charge you more than $250 for the exhaust. The tip would be extra of course and it won't make any real difference to the note.
most people get away with one i get away with none lol, loud as hell and yeh mines an auto and has got a fair drone on the highway but sounds good as soon as i give more throttle.
THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT
kool, im not sure exactly how much he is charging for the exaust, i know the tip is 110, and its gunna cost 450$ all up, thats fitted as well, and ill get 1 resignator for the time being, and if i dont like it ill get a 2nd resignator put on, thanks for ur opinions guys, ill post tomorrow and tell weither its gunna happen or not, find out bout the $$$ tomorro morning, thanks guys

Too much money. $110 for a tip? Get stuffed. $250 fitted is what i'd be asking for PLUS a tip for around $80-$90
I got my exhaust done for $350, its a redback system with 2 mufflers.... then after a while i wasnt really happy with it, so i got a new tail pipe made up with no rear resi. Sounds MINT, i love it, with 2 mufflers it was really quiet and droned a fair bit at certain speeds, but it hardly drones at all without the resi now..... you will definatly be happy without the resi man trust me
Yeah i had to take my rear ressie off with my 2.5 inch redback catback. I wasnt happy at all with the two mufflers. Way to quiet for my liking. But with just the one it sounds awesome. Mines a manual.
Australia. Love it or leave it
i dont think 450 is to much, for my little hometown anyways, cheapest one yet, and the tip is a really good one, he has the like 50-80$ tips, but this one is really nice, looks great, sounded nice on the vs he was doing when i went in, its a twin 3" powdercoated and some flow thinging on the inside for extra sound, ill show ya's pics when and if i get it done...

man $450 for a 2.5" system with 1 muffler??? my custom made 3" with 2 mufflers is cheaper than that (without a tip of course) but i got my tip already
sounds a little steep, u can get decant 2.5" exhusts for $180-200 fitted round where i live, to be honost to change the note you need to go bigger, mufflers just determine volume, i reccomend going for a dumpy if you want a low note and dumpys are loud enough with 2 mufflers, id go 2 mate, a good exhust shop should ask what size you want on it
yeh i got quoted $290 for 2.5 and 390 for 3 inch....can somone explain what they mean by drone with one muffler im trying to decide 1 or 2...and i was recomended to go 2.5 on me 5lt.
yeah i got quoted $300-$350 for a 3" (getting it monday)
all mandrel bent...
i went to mr.muffler in mitcham on saturday and asked for a 2 1/2 redback catback with no rear resinator and a tip at the end. i said i want $250 all up but he said he couldnt push that so i got a newer tip, even though they still look the same to me. He said it was a good tip and i said to be fair i'll pay $300. Tuesday im getting it done. 2 1/2 redback catback, no resi, new model tip. He said i will be exactly what you want to hear from a v6 without spending around a grand for extractors and ****. Loud when you push the revs but no noticable drone when the revs are low. Although i have a vx and they usually rev low at start of gears, and idling....not sure bout VN's and stuff. Even though, i would still recommend no resi.....

Fat people are hard to kidnap!!!!!!!
thank you all so much, for telling me 450$ is to much, searched around, and got a lukey 2.5" single res for $275 fitted, i rang 4 places and they were all between $380-$450, then rang a place in tamworth called peace pipes, 275 fitted, cheering, it will cost me bout $60-$80 in fuel to go over, but me and my mates regularly go over for day trips anyway so yeah, even with the fuel into account, still saving $50-$100 and get a day out, ill never not listen to people on JC again lol thanks guys

The flow thingy's on the inside will actually make it quieter. If it looks like a pipe with little holes all through it then it will act like a resonator and take a bit more noise out. Anything that you add to an exhaust will make it quieter, anything that you take away will make it louder, general rule of thumb. There are exceptions but not many.
