The genuine GM tranmission cooler uses the same as B&M core. It aids mantain shifting quality as if the tranny is cold and it would prolong the life of the box. I have fitted a genuine tranmissoin cooler and it's bolt on modificaton and it's worth every single cent.

    Cheers

Davies Craig make a vehicle specific one for VN-VS, which is about the best quality one you're going to buy...

Retail is $286, I've got them at $215

    VN-VS Cooler

Out of curiousity does anybody know what the genuine cooler is worth? I pressume its probably a Davies Craig anyway...

I have seen them for $150 from auto one.

I fitted PWR heavy duty trans cooler on my VR, PWR trans cooler are easier to fit as they attach infront of the radiator, 1/2hr job. Well worth it if you want to prolong the life of the trans.

Keeping the transmission fluid out of the radiator is a good thing. Temperatures in both the trans and the cooling system fluctuate so having individual cooling devices will only prolong the life of both.

The kindest thing for any trans is to fit an aftermarket cooler. Also helps to slip trans into neutral at lights on hot day as it stops the fluid flow while sitting still with now airflow thru radiator.

It was suggested by the manual that you utlise both the radiator and trans cooler setup, unless you radiator cooler is damaged.
