Need Help Fast

im about to go buy a 500 dollar 5 speed vn, but he reckons the starter motor has gone in it, he said that it ran out of petrol so he filled it up and he reckoned the starter motor stuffed out coz it is EFI? i had no idea what he was on about he said he doesnt reckon it will roll start so i dont know if he is bull****ting or not what do u guys reckon

maybe he was reffering to the fuel pump burning out if he left it running long enough without fuel maybe but i can't see how it's got anythinh to do with the starter motor. to check the fuel pump just put the key in the ignition and turn to the "on" position, you should be able to hear it (the pump that is)whine for a couple off seconds and then it will shut off until the engine starts, also check there is pressure by squeezing the fuel line under the bonnet going to the fuel rail. if the starter is stuffed you should be able to push/bump start it not a problem. by the sounds of the excuses the seller is making i'd suspect there is more wrong with it then he is indicating. if nothing else, the t5 box would be worth $500 hundred so you gotta consider that also (if it works that is)

yeah it got a recon engine and the box is excellent he says, so just turn on and listen for the fuel pump, if the fuel pump is stuffed i will no hey coz i am going to try and roll start it, but it should crank if the starter motor is alight? so what will it do if i crank the engine?

if the starters fine and the fuel pump isnt operational it will just keep cranking and try to start. or if there is residual line pressure it will start for a couple of seconds and then die

ok, went and had a look at the car, i think i can get it for 400, the car didnt turn over at all and the injectors just ticked exsessivly when i turned the key, i dont know what is wrong with it im guessing it needa a new fuel pump and starter motor,are these easy to put in? also the box ran smoothly and then engine was reconded about 40k ago, i think its a decent buy what do u guys think?

from this i'm taking it that the you musta pushstarted it and drove it, $400 is a steel, i would if i wa confindent the box was goood

im gonna try push start it tomoz with my dad there, the guy was no help and i want to have a half machinacal minded person there with me, ill keep you posted on whats goin on, the only shocking thing was he had cow skin door panels :| it was in good nick and the engine looked sweet, i think im just gonna use his car and some of my parts as im gonna get it sprayed and my bodykit should be here soon so its no biggie, the car hand brand new tyres, recon engine and a decent box all for 400! i call that a steal and a half.
