boring throttle bodies

whats the largest bore u can machine up to with a vn to vr throttle body. sum people say 72mm others say 75mm . i also have an active twin throttle body hat ive machined the faces on . should i set that up for twin vn -vr throttle bodys or sum other sort.

max i've seen a standard TB bored to is 70mm and that leaves a very thin side wall!!! i think YT does a 71mm TB for the VN-VR ifyou want to go that big. the elbow where the TB bolts to is about 68-69mm so if you put a TB on biger then this you will need to get the die grinder out to open the elbow up to the same size as the TB. yuo could go twin TB but you would need to get another or make your own manifold to suit. also the twin TB setup stuffs up the shift points on the auto in the VS commodores, not sure if this is true for the VR as it has the same auto but should be fine on VN-VP etc

No you haven't. 71mm is the max you can bore a standard VN-VR throttle out to while still keeping a safe amount in the side walls

thanks i will bore out one throttle body as far as i can go if it stuffs up then i will know my limits and let everyone know. i was goin to mod a vn series one manifold to suit an active twin throttle hat but in the end im too busy with other prjects

got 2 dollar? i bored out a throttle body to 70mm a year and a half ago and sold it on ebay for 170 then bought a yella terra one instead, thought i rooted it up but the chip stopped her from high revving and sticking. i got a few elbows i may buff them out hehe too many car parts bah and too much time on my hands

i went to 72mm on the throttle body and its still thick enough. :P
