If you are replacing your rack thats OK, but you can replace the inner tie rod with it still in the car.

yer snapped it in an accident that cost me a lot of money and projects.. yer im replacing the tie rod as we speak! um it looks like a simple bolt in procedure is this correct? i dunno why it snapped, everyhthing else is fine, k frame, studs so i dunno.. snapped just at the start of the thread, bent up and then snapped, the guys at work rekn for that to snap i woulda had to damage it somewhere else as well

If the wheel was just off full lock then it would put a lot of force onto the weakspot and the threads are the weakest link. 'Goodbye' to tierod.

undo the steering shaft coupling bolts & nuts(above the steering rack)all the way or the rack will neva come away. They are cam slotted bolts.

yer.. its too hard to take the tie rod off without a hoist.. im tryna get the rack out but tone of the bolts that holds the steering shaft link wont budge...
i got around that washer that bends over the rod though cant seem to get around the tie rod with the shifer so i have to go buy the right spanner now.. it will be easier with the rack out i guess

Should undo these bolts first. The last 2 are the ones that hold the rack to the K frame.

With the rack still bolted in the car it is easier to undo that tie rod. Make sure you have drilled the pin out first though.

i got the tie rods off i got everything off.. its just cause i thought taking off the one bolt on the steering shaft would release it but the other one holds it in too.. im just going to have to push the rack up and keep trying.. i wish i had a hoist!
