    Arrow Painting Bumpers

    Hey all,

My car is maroon and pretty decent paint work at the moment, and im thinking of getting the bumpers done something other then the plastic gray thats standard.....

Either colour match it, or black i was thinking...

How much do u recon it would cost colour matched or black if i drove it down and just asked a spraypaintin place to do all the work for me? I dont want to attempt it as im tryin to keep the body nice and striaght lol

any ideas on price and colour welcome!

They will probably want a fair bit. One thing to remember is that the unpainted bumpers are textured so you either have to get paintable (smooth)bumpers or spend forever sanding down high build primer before painting. You can just paint over the texture but if it's metallic, looks really bad.

They'll probably charge 60 bucks an hour and don't forget they'll charge you up to 2 hours for removal/refit of the bumpers too.

If you're going to do it, budget for around $500 (?) and go colour, not black.

If you want black, just get a can of satin black and do em yourself!

yea 400-500 id say if u want a fairly decent job...........or because the bumbers are probably textured u could do it yourself without it looking that bad jus plastic prime it give it a light sand and clean em up and spray em the colour u want ...

Black would be nice and clean for a VN.

If you want some practice painting first, I'd go to a decent wrecker and pick up a munted front or rear bumper for $10 (or for free), like, one that's been really hammered, and use the good half of that to practice painting on. Sand it, prime it, sand it again, (etc etc), then spray it up and see how it looks. If you're going to DIY, just make sure you get good experience something worthless.

I hate the black bumpers on the VNs. Horrible things. Colour code mate. It'll look awesome.
