    Default in and out of overdrive

    Hi everyone?

    got a problem thats just started in my vp, the gearbox for some reason doesn't seem to want to maintain overdrive?

    If i put load on it it will but as soon as it's at cruising speed it seems to drop out of overdrive? now it's onlu just started doing this any ideas ppl?

    and yes it does it at a 100k,s

    probley just a worn spring and ballbaring that locks in 5th havent opened one up soo

    make sure its not lockup buy when you think its out of 4th pull the shifter back to 3 or the other D if nothing happens then its 4th and i would check the cable adjustment.

    Yeah mine was doing that before it packed it in You havn't been towing trailers with it lately have you?
    it will start doing it more often then you will go to take off one day and she wont go any higher than second

    Ok ppl worked out what it was it was because it had about 1/2 a litre too much fluid! so i drained some out and voild working fine!

    Have to agree with bite me, doesn't look good.


    Mine did the same, lasted about 2 weeks after the first slip (this is ina V8 tho) and eventually i lost D and OD all together. Was a good time to convert to manual.
