Is there a way to tell one V8 ecu apart from another(ie Holden - HSV)????
as far as i know they are all the same, only the memcals varied. on the memcal it should have a 4 digit code which will identify which one it actually is.
Memcal (blue chip carrier thing that plugs into the top of the computer) should have a sticker with a serial number on it somewhere. (Assuming it's an original holden memcal and not a powerchip or something) That serial number identifies the tune that was originally loaded onto that memcal, although they can be changed easily enough, so no guarantee that's the actual program on it.
Match that serial number up with the entry on Doctor Bob's info page:
http://www.memcals.com/rcc_info_memcals.html
And there's your memcal's original identity.

Cheers guys.
Also, with my car, it says it has a recalibrated auto transmission from factory. Does the memcal control this or is it in the gearbox?
