hi, does anybody have some info on the country pack that came out on the the vn wagons? anyone driving the t5 can also help out, my wagon sits on about 2250@110kmh, is that normal on the t5 manual? i know the vn ran the 3.08 ratio diff, but did they use any other ratio? i also know my wagon originally came with the "country pack" which runs a higher suspension, thicker swaybars and a sump guard which my car still has, i know the diff is all original and the speedo is not out. so does anyone know anything about a possible diff ratio change from factory included in the "country pack"?
cheers

country pack is only FE2, different bump stops, bigger brakes, all the diffs were 3.08 in VN's
country pack = fe2? dont think so, greenfoam knows about the V5W (country pack suspension) option code. revised coil springs and shock absorbers,
increased ground clearance, thicker sway bars, sump & fuel tank protectors.
well i know they did use different diff ratios on these models:
(GM3) 3.45:1 - group a ss
(GU5) 3.23:1 - sv3800
i know my diff is a different ratio to do 2250@110kph, just wanting to know what ratio it is and if its part of the V5W option code.
cheers

i reckon my car revs at about the same at 110.
The VY S Pack runs a 3.08 ratio as well.
You should be measuring the revs at 100 which is what everyone else does.... makes it a little easier for everyone else to give you a rough idea.
ok cheers for that. mine revs at about 2000~2100 at 100kms. i wonder why my mates vy s pack revs alot lower at the same speed? i have the 5th gear (overdrive) ratios for both getrag and t5:
getrag: 0.82
t5:0.72
so if the vy has the same diff ratio wouldnt it be revving more than me??
just another question, what are the auto guys revving at 100? i assume they run a lockup torque converter, the overdrive is a 0.7 ratio, so combined with the 3.08 diff they shouldnt be revving much less than the manual?
cheers
Around 1900rpm at 100km/h in the Auto. Should be roughly the same for manual.
I went from 1900rpm at 100km/h to about 2400rpm with the 3.9's
yea mine is about 18-1900rpm
Adam
mines auto and i rev at 1900 at 100kph....damn i need a manualhaha btw vn2nv, while cruising at 2400 is it noticable? is it noisy? bla bla bla the usual questions?
Its a tad noisey but I always have the sound system on fairly loud anyway so I dont notice it... But it does drone now at highway speeds. Nothing to worry about unless you wanna travel interstate or something in which case it would give you the ****s...
Sorry to hijack the thread but does anybody else have trouble with, spinning up the back wheels in the rain?? i mean not wanting to do it, but it does it anyway.
i dunno whether its something to do with it being manual or its the crappy roads of newcastle/charlestown that i frequent.
i somehow managed to spin the wheels in 3rd at 50km/h last night only gave it a little bit.
and im running 225/55 tyres so its not the tires.
the only things done to it are: removal of bellmouth, pod, 2.5 inch redback.
and it does about 1800 at 100km/h.
cheers
Wheelspin is easy in the wet, If I floored it at 60 my car would spin the wheels (kicking back a gear)... But in 3rd gear on a manual, not changing back that sounds odd if it was in a straight line
My manual cant spin in 3rd unless im going around a corner. In 3rd at 50 my cars pretty doughy. Not enough revs when im only doin 50 in 3rd. 65+ and its starts getting better.
Australia. Love it or leave it
my VN t5 pulls between 1800-1900rpm @ 100km/h watch out for whitelines in the wet, they aid loss of traction. i normally go up one gear whe ndriving in the wet to keep the revs down and maintain traction etc. i just put my standard wheels back on and there bloody dangerous after having the bigger 17" bridgestones on, it's like driving on marbles now in the rain. dangerous

i dunno, it did it again last night on the same road but at 60 so it must be something on the road one of the councils dodgy road repairs or somethin that was made worse by the rain.
but im puzzled.
