is there any difference between the 6 cyl t5 and the 8 cyl gearbox as i am looking to convert from auto to manual and am told that 6cyl wont handle the tourque ?????
different box mate, i can see why you would want a 6 cyl box seeimg its about 600 dollars cheaper
Actually they're very similar, main difference is apparently the input shaft on the 6 cylinder box is longer. Or maybe shorter. In any case same box except with different input shafts. A 6-cyl box can be refitted with the correct shaft, but unless you were doing it yourself it would probably be cheaper to just shell out for a V8 box. 6-cyl T5 also has a slightly shorter ratio set, meaning more go!

Luke Duke: You mean you're gonna make sweet love IN it.
Beau Duke: Oh no, I'm gonna have sex with it.

yeah pretty much whats been said. the v8 t5 has pretty much the same ratio's exept first. it has more splines on the input shaft and a beefier gearset. externally the box is the same.
