Hey guys, i'd love any help you can offer here...
I've got a VN Calais, and the drivers electric window came apart. The bottom of the glass has two metal sliding tracks, and the white plastic part had come out of the one towards the rear of the car. I pulled the glass out, and fixed the trims, etc, now i need to get the glass back into the car.
I've tried lots of different ways, but am having probs! Do i try to get the glass onto the white plastic bits first, and then try to get it into the rubber trims? Is this done by making sure the window is all the way up so the plastic bits are up the top.
Thanks for your help
I pulled the front channel out first then slid the glass in. I think thats how I got it back it. Not much help hey. Sorry.

yer green is on the right track, remove the guide rail at the front of the door slide it up in a curved manner. pull out the rubber stop on the bottom of the rail on the glass and jimmy it around till u get it it will make it easier for ya
Wind the window mechanism down.
Undo the bolts holding the front guide rail. One inside the door behind the trim near the bottom and the other one (or could be two) is behind the side mirror triangular trim on the inside.
Push the guide rail toward the front of the door at the very bottom, put the glass in , lower it gently passed the mechanism, align it in the rear guide and then the front guide, push the glass up to the mechanism and clip the the ball joints into the white plastic clips (pliers or grips make it easier). Wind the window up just enough to still allow enough movement to reinstall the bolts and it is done.
Hope it is the same with power windows. Another way is to follow as above but clip in the rear balljoint before putting the glass in the front guide and then clipping the front joint. Takes a little bit more effort but still works.
Also ensure the rubber in the front guide is properly in place as they tend to ride up over the years.

So it sounds like those white 'ball joints' dont need to be slid in from the end, but can be pushed into the channel with pliers? Is this safe to do, wont snap em?!
Thanks guys, you've all been helpful!
I'm starting to prep my car for a respray, and need to take the drivers door handle off to bog a bit, so this may be easier now that the glass is out. Might leave it out for a couple weeks, then try to put it back in with the methods above!
Sorry, just reread your post. The plastic runners need to be inserted into the channel from the end. The ball joint can then be clipped together with grips.
If the joints are not seperated you can still manouvre the glass into place but it takes quite a bit of effort, much easier to seperate the joints.
