Our 93 V6 Lexcen has developed a bad leak from the bellhousing area. I removed the trans, installed new front & rear seals, filter and pan gasket. Didn't positively identify the cause of the leak while the trans was out. Put everything back together and the leak is still there. Does anyone have a suggestion to what may be the cause of this leak. It is definitely trans fluid. The rear main was dry as a bone. Could it be a hairline crack in the converter? Or a crack in the front seal carrier?
i would also like to no...mine is leaking badly

90VNWAG0N, I checked out some similar threads and maybe the pump needs re-bushing. Have not got my box out as yet so don't know exactly how this leads to an oil leak but I will follow it up. Whatever it is still means removing the trans

Check the power steering rack, because that uses the same oil as the auto trans.
Check to see if any fluid is on your power steering lines as this tends to leak and run down appearing as though your tranny is leaking.
Yes this is very common if the seal is hard and the rubber part cracks into little bits then the seal can be the problem if its still soft its the bush which means pump out and then rebuild it with new bush and seals etc. sloe will need to have the converter neck checked for run out.
Thanx Furious_8. I have renewed the seal so I reckon it must be the pump. Is this job a proposition for a competent mechanic (me)? Or should I take it to a specialist? Are the pump parts hard to source?
