Orange Light with ! in the middle of it

When my engine is cold, the orange light with the ! mark in the middle of it comes on for about 2 minutes or so until the engine gets warmer, it hasnt does this before and im just wondering what it means and if its a problem?

that light means there is something wrong with your braking system, it might be something to with the vacume to the brake booster or something.

no the check engine light is a orange light with a small pic of a motor on it.
the brake system one is - (!)

The lamp is the picture of a engine which looks like a fan at the front of it and has a (!) in the middle of that

yeah thats the engine managment light, try doing a fault check and see what codes come up

how and where do i do that? I think that it may be time for new oil and filter, is this a common cause to this light comming on?

This so called 'Check Engine Light' came on on my car too... So I stopped the car, got out and ran to the front of the car.. lifted the bonnet... and it was still there! Boy was I relieved...

The brake light, if and when it comes on, means the FLUID is low.

Changing the pads simply reduces the amount of fluid needed to apply the brakes as theres less distance to push the calipers.

That gave me a good chuckle.

Well I for one would like to know how it manages to tell if your brake pads are low...

well i asked my pop wot tht symbol ment (!) and he said it ment ur break pads are low....so not being a car expert i took his advice and changed my pads and the light went away so...

If the break pads are low, the car uses more brake fluid to push the brake piston. The light came on because you needed more fluid, however you replaced the brake pads which means that less fluid is being used to push the piston as the piston is moving a fraction less with new pads. But it still means you needed more fluid (just so happens you also needed new brake pads, but that would have been a co-incidence). With sufficient fluid, the light would never have come on.

Thats my understanding of it anyway.

is your car chipped? sometimes that light can come on because if you whack say for instance like i did an sv3800 chip in, your car idles a little different and can sometimes throw things off causing that light to come on..........mine never did it before i had a chip and my brake fluid is ALWAYS full (as if thats something you wanna let run dry!) and as soon as my pads get low they get replaced........without brakes your in trouble P
